Room Data Sheets SmartTool

RDS (Room Data Sheets) are used to capture the details and requirements of every space within a project. They are usually created by the client at the briefing phase (also known as architectural programing in the US) of the design process. They may be updated throughout the design to reflect modifications or to provide an easier understanding to those who are responsible for delivering a project.

The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows users to create room (or space) sheets of data using the Revit project. It is a quick and precise tool that can be used to create sheet, elevation and schedule views. The tool can generate 3D, plans, elevations, and schedule views for rooms or spaces, all of which are named parametrically and numbering new sheets.

The tool will default to the Room Numbering Template and Sheet Format that is defined by the Revit Project. However, you can select a different sheet style and name by clicking the Tool Options tab. Click “Load configuration …” on the toolbar to replace current settings with previously saved configurations. In the ‘Naming: tab, the user can select whether to include the selected room/space name in the ‘Sheet Name text box, which is located on the left of the screen. The ‘View Title option defines what text appears in the title bar for each view. View Increment is the number of increments between each view on the sheet. The option ‘Spacing’ can be set to control the space between each view on the sheet and the ‘Exclude View Names in Estimating View Sizes on Sheets:’ will stop titles from being included when determining the amount of views that are able to fit on a page.
